May 23 @ 11:00 am - 11:50 am EDT
Mindfulness meditation has been practiced for centuries by Buddhists. It took hold in this country in the 1970s. Perhaps the most influential proponent has been Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., who founded the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic and Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
The Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation for People with Aphasia program offers weekly sessions that include explanations of the principles of mindfulness, guided meditations, and discussion among the participants. In addition, the program includes written summary of principles of meditation, brief guided meditations, and suggested activities. Please see the attachments below to access the materials.
The group will meet each Thursday at 11 am ET, 8 am PT June 13.
The meditation program is led by Seth Brunner. Seth is a member of the Board of Directors and a long-term meditator. Seth experiences aphasia as a result of a stroke more than 35 years ago.
If you have any questions, or to sign up for the program, email Seth at seth@aphasia.org.
